Aberdeen Curator Creates Pharmacy History Exhibition in Active Café Setting

In 2024, freelance curator Lynne Clark was commissioned by Charles Michies Pharmacy in Aberdeen to create an exhibition celebrating the business's century-long history. The display was installed in the café of the pharmacy's Union Street branch while it remained open to customers. Clark faced unique challenges working around patrons and staff, which led to an unplanned co-curation process where visitors shared stories and contributed objects. The exhibition featured pharmaceutical artifacts and interactive elements, developed with a minimal budget using creative solutions like upcycled materials. This project provided insights into presenting heritage in non-traditional, informal spaces.
