28 Arrested in International Child Porn Operation Using Cryptocurrency

other · 2026-07-08

Back in early June, Norwegian police spearheaded a major operation that led to the arrest of 28 people across seven different countries for buying child sexual abuse materials. These suspects, aged between 22 and 54, were detained in various places, including Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany. They had been using Monero, a type of cryptocurrency, to access forums on the dark web. Working alongside six other nations, Europol managed to seize over 460 items, such as electronic devices, cryptocurrency wallets, drugs, and performance enhancers. It's expected that more arrests will follow in other countries.
