1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Chassis 003 Heads to RM Sotheby's Monterey Auction

RM Sotheby's will offer the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, chassis 003, at its Monterey auction. One of only five Grand Sports built and the first of just three coupes, it is considered the most coveted Corvette ever produced. Weighing roughly 1,900 pounds—nearly 1,300 pounds lighter than a production Corvette—it was one of the most radical American racing cars. Gord Duff, President of RM Sotheby's, stated that the car's rarity, engineering, and mystique have elevated it beyond the Corvette world, and that cars of this stature belong in the world's finest collections. The Grand Sport represents Chevrolet's boldest racing ambition and remains a legendary American competition car.
