festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The 100th anniversary of Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich, which was established on February 5, 1916, is being commemorated with various exhibitions and events throughout 2016. Founded by Hugo Ball and Emmy Hennings, it served as the origin of the Dada movement, featuring prominent figures such as Marcel Janco and Tristan Tzara. Organized by Verein dada 100 zürich 2016 and curator Juri Steiner, the festivities kicked off with 'Dada Universale' and 'Dadaglobe Reconstructed' on February 5. Notable events include the Dada Masquerade Ball on February 13, exhibitions at Haus Konstruktiv from February 25 to May 8, and 'Dada Africa' at Museum Rietberg starting March 18. A second phase will commence on June 3 with the Zurich Festival, culminating in a symposium on July 8 at Kaufleuten. A traveling exhibition has also featured 165 Dada artists worldwide.
