Zuhair Murad's Haute Couture and Resort Collections Blend Venice and London

Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad (born 1971 in Ras Baalbek) presented multiple collections for Fall 2021 and Resort 2022, drawing inspiration from Venice and London. His Fall 2021 haute couture collection, titled 'Lo Sfarzo della Serenissima con Influenze Orientali,' reflects on living masked during the pandemic and pays homage to Venetian masks and the city's contrasts of light and darkness. The collection features mantles inspired by Venetian Renaissance masters, silk, precious fabrics, and gowns adorned with crystals and beads. Colors range from black and white to cobalt blue, green, and bordeaux. Murad's atelier was destroyed in the Beirut port explosion, losing twenty years of brand history. The Resort 2022 collection is inspired by 1960s Swinging London and Mary Quant, incorporating elements from the Netflix series 'The Queen's Gambit.' It features mini dresses, circle skirts, chiffon, floral motifs, and a mix of vinyl and pleated lace in colors like lemon, magenta, and orange. Celebrities such as Madalina Ghenea, Daniela De Jesus Cosio, and Chrissy Teigen have worn Murad's designs at events like the LuisaViaRoma gala for UNICEF in Capri. Murad's style combines European and Oriental influences, emphasizing female sensuality and glamour.
