Zoran Music Exhibition Opens at Fondazione Braglia in Lugano

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Fondazione Gabriele e Anna Braglia in Lugano presents a comprehensive exhibition of works by Zoran Music (1909-2005), drawn from the Braglia collection. The show features 68 pieces spanning Music's career, from his Venetian scenes and Dalmatian motifs to his harrowing 'Nous ne sommes pas les derniers' series inspired by his imprisonment at Dachau. The foundation, established by Gabriele and Anna Braglia, met Music in Cortina d'Ampezzo and began collecting his work in 1962. Curated by Gaia Regazzoni Jäggli, the exhibition runs until December 17, 2016. Music, born in Gorizia and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, was influenced by artists including Georg Grosz, Otto Dix, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Goya, and El Greco. His refusal to join the SS led to deportation to Dachau, where he made sketches that later informed his most powerful works. The exhibition follows the foundation's inaugural show 'Nolde, Klee & Der Blaue Reiter,' which closed in June 2016.
