Zoë Ryan appointed Hammer Museum director

Zoë Ryan has been appointed the new director of the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, set to assume her role on January 1, 2025. She takes over from Ann Philbin, who retired in October 2023 after a notable 25-year tenure. Currently, Ryan serves as the director of the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania, a position she has held since 2020. Previously, she worked as a curator at the Art Institute of Chicago and curated the Istanbul Design Biennial in 2014. Ryan commended the Hammer Museum for its dynamic role in the Los Angeles arts community.
