Zly Architekt's Black Timber Sauna in a Shipping Container Opens a Glass Wall to Bratislava

architecture-design · 2026-08-18

In Bratislava, a mobile sauna designed for 25 individuals has been created by Zly Architekt and Pixxla Sauna using a shipping container. While the exterior largely remains unchanged, a full-height glazed facade has replaced one longitudinal wall, seamlessly linking the interior with the surrounding landscape. Inside, the black-stained timber surfaces foster an immersive environment that enhances the views through the glass. The sauna is prefabricated and assembled in a workshop, featuring a JUUP stove for heating. Drawing inspiration from Guča Arch's Wood-Stack Sauna and Future Simple Studio's Aesop Recess Bathhouse, the project is anticipated to be completed in 2026, incorporating a shipping container, black-stained timber, and a glazed facade.
