ZKM research project examines post-communist condition through three publications and Berlin conference
ZKM (Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe) conducted a research initiative that resulted in three publications focused on post-communist culture and utopian ideas. This endeavor reached its peak with a conference in Berlin in 2004, titled "The Post-Communist Condition," followed by an exhibition at KW Institute for Contemporary Art in May 2005. The publications, edited by Boris Groys, include "The New Humankind" (2005), "At Zero Point" (2005), and "Back from the Future" (2005), comprising a total of 2,384 pages produced over three years with the collaboration of around 100 scholars, supported by Kulturstiftung des Bundes. Notable contributors are Groys, Peter Weibel, and Anne von der Heiden, with theoretical insights from Alain Badiou, Chantal Mouffe, and Svetlana Boym.
