exhibition · 2026-04-20

The Modern Art Space in Shanghai is hosting 'Faraway Friends,' a solo show by Chinese video artist Zhu Jia, curated by Mark Rappolt. This exhibition will be on display from November 11 to December 13, 2020, coinciding with Shanghai Art Week. Born in Beijing in 1963, Zhu Jia graduated from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1988. His notable works, such as 'Forever' (1994), 'Talk' (1992), and 'The Face of Facebook' (2011), delve into the individual's role within society. The exhibition, developed during the London lockdowns, showcases a range of works, including 'Related to Environment' (1997), with support from ShanghART Gallery. Zhu's previous exhibitions feature 'Art and China after 1989' at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2017.
