architecture-design · 2026-04-15

On April 13, 2026, ZGF Architects finalized the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center, a substantial 200,000-square-foot addition to the California Science Center in Los Angeles. This new facility nearly doubles the available space for educational exhibits and boasts a striking curvilinear exterior made of stainless steel, soaring to 200 feet, inspired by NASA spacecraft. The highlight of the center is the Space Shuttle Endeavour, showcased in a full-stack vertical launch position within a 2,000-ton tower, completed in early 2024. It will feature 100 aerospace artifacts and 100 interactive exhibits spread across three galleries. Construction commenced in June 2022, employing 1,500 workers. The opening date remains unannounced, while artifact installation continues. Additionally, the Getty Center is undergoing modernization, and the High Museum of Art will host an exhibition from April 10 to August 2, 2026.
