Zevs Returns to Hong Kong with 'Supreme même' at Over the Influence

Zevs, the French street artist born Christophe Aguirre Schwarz in 1977, is back in Hong Kong with a new exhibition titled 'Supreme même' at Over the Influence gallery. The show, running until August 4, 2018, includes works on canvas, sculptures, murals, and installations. Zevs is known for his 'Liquidation' series, which distorts iconic logos like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Coca-Cola, Shell, and Google into dripping paint. 'Supreme même' specifically explores the collaboration between luxury brand Louis Vuitton and streetwear label Supreme. The gallery describes the exhibition as a testament to the incestuous nature of the two brands' partnership, though it could also be read as a glorification of logomania. This marks Zevs's return to Hong Kong after nine years; in 2009, he was arrested for painting a dripping Chanel logo on the facade of a Giorgio Armani flagship store. Zevs lives between Paris and Berlin, and Over the Influence is based in Los Angeles with spaces in Hong Kong.
