festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Kobane Calling, based on Zerocalcare's graphic novel, is making a comeback after a four-year break at the historic Teatro Bellini in Naples, a venue dating back to the 19th century. This show, which first premiered in 2018 during Lucca Comics & Games, will run from May 10 to May 22, 2022. The opening night will feature notable figures like cartoonist Michele Rech, Yilmaz Orkan from Uiki Onlus, director Nicola Zavagli, and Daniele Russo, the artistic director of Teatro Bellini. The graphic novel, published by BAO Publishing in 2016 after its run in Internazionale, tells Zerocalcare's story at the Turkey-Syria border and has sold over 100,000 copies in Italy. It's available in multiple languages, including Croatian, French, and Japanese. This unique theatrical documentary aims to present a balanced view on war without sensationalism and features a talented cast. Vietina highlighted the emotional significance of returning to Naples, as the pandemic had previously halted the tour there.
