Zelensky in UK for Talks with Burnham on Air Defense

On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the UK to engage in discussions with newly appointed Prime Minister Andy Burnham, as Britain prepares to provide additional assistance to Ukraine in overcoming Russian air defences. Zelensky highlighted air defence, maritime security, and collaborative defence production as key focus areas on social media. The UK is anticipated to grant Ukraine the rights to manufacture its 'Stone Cloak' device, which prevents Russian air-defence systems from detecting drones. Burnham is expected to reaffirm Britain's ongoing support during his tenure. This visit precedes Zelensky's meeting with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, where they will likely address sanctions against Russia and plans for Ukraine to produce Patriot air-defence missiles. Since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the UK's total aid to Ukraine has amounted to US$33.3 billion, as Ukraine continues its long-range drone and missile operations against Russia to impose economic strain on Putin's military efforts.
