Zarina's Posthumous Exhibition at Luhring Augustine Explores Borders and Displacement
Luhring Augustine is set to showcase 'Beyond the Stars,' the inaugural solo exhibition of Zarina after her passing, at its Tribeca gallery in New York from January 17 to March 28, 2026. The artist, originally from India, died six years prior and produced art over a span of seventy years, influenced by her experiences of postwar politics and exile. Following the 1947 Partition of India, her family relocated to Pakistan. The exhibition features a variety of prints, collages, and sculptures that delve into themes of displacement, including significant works like 'Dividing Line' (2001), 'Abyss' (2013), and 'Cities I Called Home' (2010), along with 'Mapping the Dislocations' (2001) and 'Hanging in There' (2000). Genevieve Hanson captured the exhibition through photography.
