ZAPRUDER filmmakersgroup Wins Maxxi Prize in Rome

ZAPRUDER filmmakersgroup has won the eighth edition of the Premio Maxxi in Rome with their work Zeus Machine, a raised golden parallelepiped that appears as a mysterious object within the museum space. The group prevailed over finalists Riccardo Arena (Everlasting Sea), Ludovica Carbotta (Monowe: the city museum), and Adelita Husni-Bey (La Luna in Folle). The winning piece will enter the Maxxi permanent collection, and a bilingual publication featuring interviews, essays, and an anthology of critical texts on the artist's work will be dedicated to them. The international jury included Hanru Hou (artistic director of Maxxi), filmmaker Matteo Garrone, journalist and critic Helena Kontova, Anna Mattirolo (Ministry of Cultural Heritage), Francesco Manacorda (director of Tate Liverpool), and Adelina von Fürstenberg (curator and founder of Art for The World). For the prize's 15th anniversary, the exhibition includes a documentary section on the seven previous editions, displaying archival materials, photographs, and videos of the 35 artists who participated from 2001 to 2014.
