Zaha Hadid Architects designs shopping district in Milan's CityLife complex
In Milan, the Business & Shopping District of CityLife has officially opened, marking Europe’s largest urban regeneration initiative, which costs €2 billion and covers an area of 366,000 square meters. This district boasts a three-story commercial gallery designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, featuring a variety of fashion and dining options, along with the Anteo multiplex cinema that has seven screening rooms. The entrance to the shopping promenade pays tribute to designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri. Additionally, historic Padiglione 3 from the former Fiera di Milano has been restored for cultural public use. Architect Mauro Galantino created the outdoor shopping street, which is accessible via the M5 metro line, including the "Tre Torri" station by One Works. The standout Three Towers, designed by Arata Isozaki, Zaha Hadid, and Daniel Libeskind, include a tower by Libeskind expected to be completed in 2020. CEO Armando Borghi emphasized the district's innovative blend of residential and office environments.
