Z&Z STUDIO Completes Terraced Campus in Shenzhen

In 2025, Z&Z STUDIO finalized the Nanshan Affiliated School of Beijing Normal University located in Shenzhen, China. Spanning 46,447 square meters, the campus features a "terraced courtyard campus" design that harmonizes with the surrounding mountain, park, and harbor landscapes. The structure is positioned on a gentle slope, utilizing a cross-frame design and terraced massing to adapt to the terrain, ensuring that all general classrooms have mountain views and that specialized classrooms face south for optimal natural light. The design is inspired by Lingnan courtyard traditions and the region's climate, fostering "hill-like terraces" and "intimate courtyards." The project was led by architect Zhong Zhong, with contributions from a team that includes Zhong Botao, Li Yifan, and others, while Han Shuang curated the project. Structural engineering was handled by Liu Chang and Zhang Zhengguo, with landscape and interior design by Shenzhen Este Design Co., Ltd. The general contractor was China Railway No.2 Engineering Group (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.
