Yvonne De Rosa's Correspondence explores love and memory in Iran

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Italian photographer Yvonne De Rosa (Naples, 1975) presents 'Correspondence' at Hasht Cheshmeh Art Space in Kashan, Iran, curated by Hossein Farmani. The exhibition is based on a 1904 love correspondence of about one hundred letters, which De Rosa analyzed with a graphologist and a psychologist. She photographed a rose for each letter, using the wilting flower as a metaphor for decay and transformation. The last letter is a suicide note, not for love but due to the writer's self-acceptance issues. De Rosa, founder of Magazzini Fotografici in Naples, focuses on recovering forgotten memories, as in her previous projects 'Negativo 1930' (Arles, France) and 'Archivio Magazzini – Chapter One'. She was the first woman to exhibit at Hasht Cheshmeh Art Space and likely in Kashan, noting the city's growing interest in art and photography. The show runs until February 23, 2020.
