Yves Scherer's Bologna Show Explores Fame Through Kate Moss and Emma Watson
Swiss artist Yves Scherer (born 1987 in Solothurn) presents a solo exhibition at Galleria Piu in Bologna, focusing on female fame through the figures of Kate Moss and Emma Watson. The first series features ready-mades using a Taschen book on Kate Moss, framed in plexiglass boxes. The second series centers on Emma Watson, particularly her 2014 UN #HeForShe speech, with works including a love letter installation from Scherer's earlier Coney Island project. Scherer describes Watson as a generational icon for those born in the late 1980s and early 1990s, noting a 'strange connection' fans feel with her. The exhibition also includes paparazzi photos of Watson grocery shopping. The gallery space is painted pink, chosen by the artist, and features a disturbing mirror. The show is reviewed by Elettra Stamboulis.
