Yves Klein Retrospective at Blenheim Palace Marks 90th Birthday

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire will host the largest Yves Klein retrospective ever staged in England, opening July 18, 2018. Titled "Yves Klein at Blenheim Palace," the exhibition is organized by the Blenheim Art Foundation in collaboration with the Yves Klein Estate, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the artist's birth. Klein (Nice, 1928 – Paris, 1962) was a key figure of Nouveau Réalisme and a pioneer of conceptual art, Minimalism, and performance. He patented International Klein Blue (IKB), a signature ultramarine symbolizing spirituality and transcendence. Over 50 works will be on view, including his Anthropometries—live performances where models coated in blue paint served as "living brushes"—monochrome blue paintings, and a large blue pigment installation.
