Yves Chaudouët's Panoramique Exhibition at Frac Limousin
Yannick Miloux curated the first comprehensive exhibition of Yves Chaudouët's diverse practice at Frac Limousin in Limoges, France, from March 1 to June 7, 2008. Chaudouët (born 1959) works across painting, printmaking, photography, video, music, writing, and theater. The show features a selection of his monotypes (produced since adolescence on a single 9x16 cm plate), recent 'bavardes' paintings, photographs, two humorous videos showing landmarks escaping their frames, and glass-blown sea creatures from Meisenthal. The installation progressively darkens, immersing visitors in the nocturnal world of his monotypes. Chaudouët also directed John Cage's lecture-performance 'Where Are We Going? And What Are We Doing?' at Théâtre Dijon Bourgogne (March 11-29, 2008). Critic Jean-Marc Huitorel notes the exhibition reveals a cosmogonic drive in Chaudouët's work, centered on monotypes and marine glass forms.
