Yves Béhar’s Peaks Modular Sofa for Moooi: Adaptable Design for Social Spaces

Industrial designer Yves Béhar has unveiled Peaks, a modular sofa produced by Dutch brand Moooi. The system features triangular hinged foam elements that can be reconfigured into various social terrains, prioritizing adaptability, intimacy, and shared presence. Developed in the wake of the pandemic, Peaks was launched during Salone del Mobile in Milan. Béhar discussed the project with AN Interior’s editor in chief Jack Murphy at Fulton Market Design Days in Chicago, where the sofa was displayed in Coalesse’s pop-up venue. In the interview, Béhar emphasized the importance of finding a partner who loves the idea and collaborates on making it commercially viable and expanding its applications. He noted that Peaks works well in home environments with many configurations and is also suitable for contract use in public spaces, educational environments, and outdoor areas.
