Yuz Museum Shanghai Hosts First Large-Scale Qatari Contemporary Art Exhibition
From November 8, 2023, to March 3, 2024, Yuz Museum in Shanghai will feature 'Watering the Desert | Contemporary Art from Qatar.' This is the first major showcase of contemporary artists from Qatar and those working there in China. Curated by Issa Al Shirawi and Maryam Hassan Al Thani from Qatar Museums, the exhibition highlights the talents of 34 artists, designers, and filmmakers. This event is part of a collaborative effort between Qatar Museums and Yuz Museum, which is linked to a broader six-year partnership that includes the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The exhibition explores themes like shared memories and the relationship between art and nature, with contributions from Virginia Commonwealth University of Arts and the Doha Film Institute.
