Yuval Avital's 'Il Bestiario della Terra' Unfolds Across Parma and Reggio Emilia
In 2022, the Israeli artist Yuval Avital (born in Jerusalem, 1977) is undertaking a multidisciplinary initiative titled 'Il Bestiario della Terra' in Parma and Reggio Emilia, under the auspices of the Reggio Parma Festival. The project commenced with a six-month preparatory stage that engaged local organizations and institutions, including Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia. Influenced by the medieval bestiary tradition and the 12th-century Zooforo of the Baptistery of Parma, it features 'Anatomie Squisite,' curated by Alessandro Gazzotti, which integrates Avital's creations with the Collezione Spallanzani, starting July 24, 2022. Additionally, 'Il Canto dello Zooforo' presents an immersive installation at Casa del Suono. A mural by Simone Ferrarini was unveiled on July 1, while 'Lessico Animale. Prologo' debuted on July 7 at APE Parma Museo.
