Yuri Catania's 'Imperfect' art wall in Milan features golden scars on 120-meter mural
Artist Yuri Catania has created a 120-meter-long art wall in Milan titled 'Imperfect,' featuring photographic portraits of 22 women who have survived breast cancer. The women are depicted seminude, with their surgical scars painted gold, inspired by the Japanese Kintsugi technique of repairing broken ceramics with gold. The project was initiated by Giulia Ruggeri, a 42-year-old osteopath and breast cancer survivor, who collaborated with Catania to promote prevention and fundraising. The mural is installed on walls of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group in Via Ventimiglia, Porta Genova area, and will be visible until July 2023. The work is created using paste-up technique and covers over 360 square meters. Portions of the wall mounted on frames, certified as unique pieces or NFTs, are available for purchase on the artist's website until June 30, 2023. Proceeds go entirely to Fondazione IEO-MONZINO and Giulia Ruggeri's association IMPERFECT. The project is part of the 'Follow the Pink' solidarity campaign by Fondazione IEO-MONZINO. The mural was presented on April 1-2, 2023.
