Yuri Ancarani Wins Special Jury Prize at Locarno Film Festival

At the 2016 Locarno Film Festival, Italian artist and filmmaker Yuri Ancarani received the Special Jury Prize Ciné+ Cineasti del presente for his documentary 'The Challenge'. The film explores falconry, a practice spanning over 40 centuries, focusing on a falconer traveling to a major tournament in Qatar. Ancarani expressed joy at the recognition, especially from horror director Dario Argento who presented the award. The festival also honored the Austrian-Italian duo Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel with a Special Mention for 'Mister Universo', and Carlo Sironi won the Film und Video Untertitelung award for his short 'Valparaiso'. The top prize, the Golden Pardo, went to Ralitza Petrova's 'Godless' from Bulgaria, while Joao Pedro Rodrigues won Best Director for 'O ornitólogo'.
