Yuri Ancarani's Cowboy Photographs Invade Villa Adriana
The exhibition titled 'Si fa est, superare divos' by Yuri Ancarani, born in Ravenna in 1972, is currently displayed at Villa Adriana in Tivoli and will remain open until October 6, 2024. Curated by Andrea Bruciati, this showcase includes ten photographs taken during a video shoot at the Hadrianic site, featuring young cowboys alongside busts of Emperor Hadrian, in tribute to composer Ottorino Respighi (Bologna, 1879 – Rome 1936). Ancarani's project delves into the interplay of desire and memory, weaving a narrative connection between the cowboys and the villa's artifacts. He emphasizes the shoot's unique energy, with cowboys representing masculine ideals and reflecting Hadrian's bond with Antinous. This exhibition is part of Ancarani's ongoing exploration of Rome, incorporating musical influences from Respighi, along with soundtracks by Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone.
