Yukoh Tsukamoto's 'Le lacrime della natura' at Atelier Gallery Rome
At Atelier Gallery in Rome, Japanese artist Yukoh Tsukamoto presents his second solo exhibition, 'Le lacrime della natura' (The Tears of Nature), curated by Ljuba Jovicevic and Ana Laznibat. The show features a series of works using the gum print technique, a lithograph-like process on paper that yields few copies, each unique. Central to the exhibition is a large installation evoking a thicket, with transparent cocoons resembling mourning spider webs containing dried liquidambar fruits—known to the Aztecs as ococal. Tsukamoto, born in Osaka in 1954 and based in Milan since 1993, explores nature as tamed and wounded by daily neglect. The works are described as nourished by light, a sharp voice and nostalgic melody of what once was. The presentation text is co-authored by Ana Laznibat and Zoe Di Troia.
