Yuko Mohri's largest European solo show opens at Pirelli HangarBicocca
In Milan, Pirelli HangarBicocca is showcasing 'Entanglements,' marking the largest solo exhibition in Europe by Japanese artist Yuko Mohri, who was born in 1980 in Kanagawa and currently resides in Tokyo. Curated by Fiammetta Griccioli and Vicente Todolí, the exhibition occupies the Shed space and features seven installations spanning from the mid-2000s to contemporary pieces. Mohri's dynamic sculptures incorporate everyday materials and interact with unseen forces. Notable installations include 'I/O' (2011–ongoing), 'Flutter' (2018–25), 'Piano Solo: Belle-Île' (2024), 'You Locked Me Up in a Grave' (2018), 'Decomposition' (2021–ongoing), 'Moré Moré (Leaky): Variations' (2018–ongoing), and 'Magnetic Organ' (2004–ongoing). A monograph featuring a manga by Ran Kurumi accompanies the exhibition. Mohri represented Japan at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.
