Yto Barrada's Solo Exhibition 'Bite the Hand' Opens at Pace London in March, Followed by Installation at MoMA PS1
On 22 March, Yto Barrada's solo show titled 'Bite the Hand' will debut at Pace in London, continuing until 11 May. Additionally, her outdoor sculpture installation 'Le Grand Soir' will be unveiled at MoMA PS1 in New York on 25 April. Barrada, who was born in Paris and grew up in Tangier, studied political science at the Sorbonne. Her multidisciplinary artwork addresses themes of postcolonialism, migration, and borders. In Tangier, she runs two nonprofits: Cinémathèque de Tanger and The Mothership, which focuses on the conservation of indigenous plants. Her 2022 film 'A Day is Not a Day' explores the concept of color durability. Barrada's past exhibitions include the Barbican and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, with her work highlighting oral history and community engagement amidst urban transformation.
