Yto Barrada Awarded Abraaj Group Art Prize 2015 with $100,000 Commission for Art Dubai Exhibition
Yto Barrada, born in Morocco, has been selected as the recipient of the Abraaj Group Art Prize 2015, securing a $100,000 commission for a new work. This commissioned piece will debut in an exhibition at Art Dubai from March 18 to 21, 2015. The show will also include prior works by three shortlisted artists: Sarnath Banerjee, Setareh Shahbazi, and Mounira Al Solh. Guest curator Omar Kholeif is collaborating with all artists to organize the exhibition and produce an accompanying catalogue. Established in 2008, the prize aims to foster artistic growth in the MENASA region, encompassing the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. The announcement was made on September 17, 2014.
