YouTube Play Biennial Exhibition at Guggenheim Museum
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum launched YouTube Play, a biennial exhibition showcasing creative video works from around the world. Curated by Guggenheim curator Nancy Spector, the initiative invited submissions through YouTube's platform. A jury including artists Takashi Murakami, Laurie Anderson, and Darren Aronofsky selected 25 winning videos from over 23,000 entries. The selected works were displayed at Guggenheim museums in New York, Bilbao, Berlin, and Venice. The exhibition ran from October 22, 2010, through October 24, 2010. YouTube Play aimed to explore the intersection of digital culture and contemporary art. The project represented one of the first major museum collaborations with a video-sharing platform. Winning videos were featured in a live-streamed event at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
