Young Polish Art Scene: Spring 2006 in Warsaw

exhibition · 2026-04-23

In the spring of 2006, various venues in Warsaw highlighted the talents of emerging Polish artists. Aneta Grzeszykowska presented computer-generated color portraits of fictional individuals at Galeria Raster. At Galeria Foksal, Leon Tarasewicz's mirror labyrinth, noted by Adam Szymczyk, emphasized the blending of Eastern and Western art. Zbigniew Rogalski and Michal Budny's installation of cardboard projectors, simulating Rogalski's paintings and referencing the competition for Warsaw's future museum, was displayed at Zacheta National Gallery. Meanwhile, the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art hosted an eight-part series through July, featuring works by Kuba Bakowski, Dominik Lejman, Hubert Czerepok, and Jan Simon that explored societal neuroses. Additionally, Krzysztof Warlikowski directed Alban Berg's opera Wozzeck at Teatr Wielki, capturing the anxiety of transition.
