Young Photographers Shine at Mois de la Photo 2014

exhibition · 2026-04-24

The 2014 Mois de la Photo in Paris featured several standout exhibitions by emerging photographers. Laëtitia Tura, in collaboration with Hélène Crouzillat, presented 'Je suis pas mort, je suis là' at Galerie du Bar Floréal (Nov 14 – Dec 13), a five-year photographic investigation into migrant experiences, borders, and state-sanctioned disappearances. Her work includes a triptych shot in Tunisia showing a beached boat, a mass grave, and a fishing net, as well as images of makeshift shelters and tombs across Morocco. A 70-minute film, 'Les Messagers,' accompanies the series. At Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire (Oct 31 – Nov 30), Mike Brodie's 'A Period of Juvenile Prosperity' documents four years of train-hopping across America, capturing hobo subculture with a raw, spontaneous aesthetic. Matt Wilson's 'This Place Called Home' at the same venue offers melancholic small-format photographs of motels, vernacular landscapes, and children, with a series set in Havana highlighting decaying buildings. Magali Lambert's 'Histoires naturelles' at Maison des Arts in Châtillon (Nov 5 – Dec 7) assembles found objects into surreal, baroque still lifes, including a ham leg eroticized as a monstrous female limb. Éric Aupol's 'Démultiplier : sur les pas de Clérambault' at Galerie Polaris (Nov 8 – Dec 20) traces the legacy of psychiatrist and photographer Gaëtan de Clérambault through theatrical images of nude bodies, architecture in Fez, and a post-mortem allegory.
