Yoshiharu Tsuge's Early Manga Collected in 'Fiori Rossi'
Oblomov Edizioni, founded by Igort, has released 'Fiori Rossi', a new volume collecting fourteen early short stories by Yoshiharu Tsuge (born 1937 in Katsushika). Originally published between 1966 and 1968 in the magazine Garo, these stories explore themes of failure, solitude, and inadequacy in post-World War II Japan, a nation rapidly modernizing and embracing Western consumerism. The characters, like Sayoko who runs a tea shop, are portrayed as fragments of a disappearing rural world, struggling to adapt to an alienating progress. This collection follows the 2018 release of 'Nejishiki' and continues to bring Tsuge's gekiga manga to an Italian audience. The 256-page book, priced at €19 (ISBN 9788885621572), offers a poetic and introspective journey into the work of the 80-year-old master, considered a touchstone of authorial comics.
