Yorkshire Sculpture Park's Winter Program Features New Outdoor Sculptures by Hirst, de Vries, and da Silva

exhibition · 2026-04-19

The Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) is launching a winter program that features three new outdoor sculptures set within its expansive 500-acre grounds. 'Muamba Posy' (2025) by Vanessa da Silva, commissioned by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, delves into themes of identity and migration using metallic hues. Auke de Vries' 'The Watchtower' (2000), which originated from his 2000–2001 exhibition 'Living in Trees', offers reflections on the surrounding landscape. Additionally, Damien Hirst's 'The Martyr – Saint Bartholomew' (2019) reimagines a 16th-century flayed saint, probing concepts of belief and mortality. These pieces complement over ninety works by contemporary artists. Indoor displays include William Kentridge's 'The Pull of Gravity' among others. YSP, established in 1977, will host its winter program throughout the season; more information can be found at ysp.org.uk.
