Yokohama Triennale Explores Connectivity and Isolation Through 40 Artists

The sixth Yokohama Triennale, titled 'Islands, Constellations & Galapagos', took place from 4 August to 5 November in Yokohama, Japan, showcasing the talents of 40 artists. This exhibition delved into themes of connectivity and isolation through the lenses of geography, relationships, and environmental concerns. MAP Office crafted miniature islands from objects found on the shore, while Seo Natsumi depicted the memories of tsunami survivors. Tatiana Trouvé's installation reflected the aftermath of disasters, and Anne Samat fused everyday items into traditional weaving. Katie Paterson's 'Fossil Necklace' illustrated the evolution of life, and Kathy Prendergast presented obscured maps of Europe. Dong Yuan recreated a domestic environment, and Ragnar Kjartansson's video featured musicians in isolated rooms. Yanagi Yukinori's work included rubble and projections related to nuclear tests in the Pacific, with various venues highlighting environmental issues.
