Yōkai: Japanese Monster Prints Take Over Monza's Villa Reale

Chiara Spinnato, founder of the new organization Vertigo Syndrome, has curated 'Yōkai. The exhibition features an immersive journey through 18th- and 19th-century Japanese prints and books, including a rare edition of Hokusai's manga notebooks. The scientific catalog, published by Skira, is edited by scholar Paolo Linetti. The show aims to combat the tedium of contemporary art exhibitions by using modern manga and animation techniques to explain historical works. A highlight is a display of about eighty ivory netsuke from the Bertocchi collection, never before exhibited publicly, dating to the 19th century. The exhibition runs at the Villa Reale di Monza.
