Yilmaz Dziewior to curate German Pavilion at 2021 Venice Biennale

Heiko Maas, Germany's Foreign Minister, revealed that Dr. Yilmaz Dziewior will take on the role of curator for the German Pavilion at the 2021 Venice Biennale, marking its fifty-ninth edition. Dziewior has been the director of Museum Ludwig in Cologne since 2015, having previously directed Kunstverein Hamburg from 2001 to 2008 and Kunsthaus Bregenz from 2009 to 2015. Additionally, he has experience as a freelance curator for various art initiatives. In his statement, Dziewior acknowledged the honor of his appointment and the weight of the responsibility, emphasizing the crucial question of cultural production's social significance, especially during these challenging times when cultural relevance is paramount.
