Yayoi Kusama's 3D Avatar Looms Over Tokyo on Louis Vuitton's Mega Screen

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Yayoi Kusama, the 93-year-old Japanese artist, has renewed her collaboration with luxury brand Louis Vuitton a decade after their first partnership. The new campaign was unveiled with a spectacular 3D projection on the Cross Shinjuku Vision billboard in Tokyo. The video shows a 3D Kusama emerging from a Louis Vuitton Damier trunk among her iconic polka-dotted pumpkins, leaning out over the street. Metal spheres from her work "Narcissus Garden" form the LV logo, and the artist reappears in yellow holding a pumpkin topped with brand initials. The projection, running until December 6, 2022, previews a collection launching in January 2023. Louis Vuitton described the collaboration as taking over the Maison's emblems with Kusama's symbolic objects and infinite motifs, first revealed on the Cruise 2023 runway.
