Yayoi Kusama Documentary 'Kusama – Infinity' Hits Italian Theaters March 4

The documentary 'Kusama – Infinity' by director Heather Lenz, which premiered in US theaters in early September, is set to release in Italian cinemas on March 4, distributed by Wanted and Feltrinelli Real Cinema. The film uses archival materials and recent interviews to chronicle Yayoi Kusama's artistic journey from her early days to international fame. Kusama states, 'My work is based on the transposition of my psychological problems into art. Obsession. Accumulation is the result of my obsession. And this philosophy is the central theme of my art.' Lenz explained her motivation: 'Despite her being famous for her red wig and colorful polka dots, I thought that revealing the dark side of her personal story could help convey that part of her life and person so it wouldn't be forgotten. I wanted everyone to know that Kusama's story is that of a pioneer who had to overcome sexism, racism, and mental illness to pursue her dream of being an artist.'
