Yasufumi Nakamori Appointed Director of Asia Society Museum in New York

Yasufumi Nakamori will begin leading the Asia Society Museum in August, moving from his position as Senior Curator of International Art (Photography) at Tate Modern. He previously curated photography at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston from 2008 to 2016 and served as curator in the photography and new media department at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Nakamori has organized exhibitions including one featuring South African artist Zanele Muholi. He has taught graduate seminars at Rice University and authored publications such as Katsura: Picturing Modernism in Japanese Architecture (2010). Nakamori expressed enthusiasm about directing the museum's arts and culture program, aiming to make it a center for expanding scholarship on Asian and diaspora art through historical global connections.
