Yang Jung-uk Wins Korea Artist Prize 2024
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul has awarded the Korea Artist Prize 2024 to Yang Jung-uk. He was selected from a pool of four finalists and will receive an additional 10 million won (about £5,500 GBP), on top of the 50 million won (around £27,000 GBP) given to each of the finalists. The other contenders were Hayoun Kwon, Jane Jin Kaisen, and Jiyoung Yoon. The judges praised Yang for his innovative artistic approach and the significant reach of his work. MMCA director Kim Sunghee noted that Yang skillfully blends ordinary visuals with captivating dreamlike scenes. Established in 2012, this prize highlights four outstanding visual artists annually. The exhibition runs at the MMCA until March 23.
