artist · 2026-04-20

In October 2023, Taiwanese artist Yahon Chang showcased 'A Thousand Moons on A Thousand Rivers,' a two-part live painting performance. The London event occurred at A.I. Gallery in Spitalfields, utilizing the former studio of Tracey Emin and partnering with Outset Contemporary Art Fund to celebrate its 20th anniversary. In Paris, the performance was held at the Asia NOW art fair at La Monnaie. Curated by Manu Park, the project included emerging Taiwanese artist Yu-Jung Chen, who crafted a soundscape inspired by Chang's artwork. Each twenty-minute segment featured Chang creating large-scale figurative pieces in Chinese ink on vertical canvases, drawing inspiration from the Water-Moon Avalokiteshvara. His work, which fuses traditional Chinese ink-wash with Western styles, has also been exhibited in Taipei, Seoul, and Berlin in 2023.
