XV PNA Exhibition at MAS.EDU in Sassari Showcases Intimate Works Born from Lockdown
The fifteenth edition of the PNA (Piano Nazionale per l'Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale) exhibition opened at the Museo d'Arte MAS.EDU in Sassari, inaugurated by Minister Maria Cristina Messa. The exhibition runs until January 15, 2022. The works, created by young artists during the pandemic, are notably small in format due to lockdown restrictions that prevented access to studios, forcing artists to work in confined domestic spaces. This has resulted in an intimate, introspective body of work that reflects a 'frightened vision of the unexpected.' The exhibition is housed in the large spaces of MAS.EDU, where the small-scale pieces seem to get lost. Antonio Bisaccia, President of the National Council for Higher Artistic and Musical Education (CNAM), contributed a reflective essay on the state of artistic research in Italy, arguing for the integration of artistic and scientific cultures and emphasizing the importance of limits, obstacles, and communication in research. He critiques the dominance of 'short thinking' in social media and calls for a return to rich synthesis. The PNA XV edition is presented as a journey, with the artists' works embodying a search for a new idea of community through introspection.
