XV Festival Internazionale di Fotografia di Roma al MACRO
The XV edition of the International Festival of Photography in Rome, curated by Marco Delogu, presents works by multiple photographers exploring the city's periphery, history, and contemporary life. Marco Delogu's photographs capture sculptures in Villa Medici's gardens under surreal light. Hans-Christian Schink's black-and-white images depict the EUR district's architecture from the 1930s to today as mausoleums of contemporaneity. Paolo Pellegrin reconstructs the biographies of Roma families living on the capital's margins. Roger Ballen photographs Roman suburbs, drawing on walls with chalk and charcoal inspired by African suburbs. Tod Papageorge captures commuters and crowds in the metro from center to outskirts. Anders Petersen offers an anthropological analysis of contemporary solitude through fragmented bodies in remote places. Graciela Iturbide, the Mexican photographer, captures voids and solids of ancient and modern Rome, photographing fleeting time. The exhibition also includes works from previous editions and new works from the XIV edition by Roger Ballen, Jon Rafman, Simon Roberts, and Leo Rubinfien. The festival runs until January 8, 2017, at MACRO, Via Nizza 138, Rome.
