XLV Salón de Primavera Guillermo de Olives Pons Painting Prize Opens Call

The Ateneo de Mahón in Menorca has announced the 45th edition of the Salón de Primavera Guillermo de Olives Pons painting prize. Open to all artists, the competition accepts works in any technique, style, or theme, provided they are original and not previously awarded. Each artist may submit one unframed, unsigned work measuring between 61×50 cm and 162×130 cm. Abstract pieces must indicate orientation on the back. Submissions must be delivered to the Ateneo de Mahón (Carrer Sa Rovellada de Dalt, 25, 07703 Maó) by May 22, 2026, accompanied by a sealed envelope with the artist's name, address, phone, and technique. A jury will award a Gold Medal (€5,000, funded by the De Olives Olivares family) and an Honorable Mention (€2,000). Winning works become property of the Ateneo, which also acquires exhibition and reproduction rights. Selected works will be exhibited at the Sala de Cultura Sant Antoni in Maó from June 5 to 27, 2026. Unselected works must be collected between September 14 and 30, 2026; after August 31, 2026, unclaimed works are considered abandoned. Artists who previously won the Gold Medal must wait five editions before competing again.
