Xing's Live Arts Week and Raum Program Turn 15 in Bologna

Bologna's experimental performance season opens October 6, 2018, with Xing cultural organization's 15th anniversary. Xing, founded in 2000, operates Raum, a former 17th-century convent, hosting multidisciplinary projects outside the contemporary art market system. Co-founders Silvia Fanti, Daniele Gasparinetti, and Andrea Lissoni emphasize their research-oriented approach, distinct from commercial galleries. The autumn 2018 program begins with Hypnomachia VII, an overnight sleep-concert by Australian musician Anthony Pateras on October 6. It continues with Palaraum, a collaboration with TRIPLA for the 14th Giornata del Contemporaneo and EnERgie Diffuse Emilia-Romagna project, and concludes in December with Alessandro Di Pietro's Short Stories of Fires and Carbon, a four-act performance involving Andrea Magnani, Costanza Candeloro, Riccardo Baruzzi, and Riccardo Benassi. Xing's Live Arts Week, launched in 2012 from the merger of Netmage and F.I.S.Co., typically runs in spring. Raum, described as an extraterritorial space unaffected by market forces, hosts seven new commissions this trimester, focusing on transforming the space through collaborative performances by mostly Italian artists.
