Xindian Boys and XTRUX create algorithmic river panorama at New Taipei City Art Museum
The Taiwanese art collective Xindian Boys collaborated with new media group XTRUX on a site-specific digital installation titled Don’t Worry, Baby (2025). This commissioned work fills three walls of a large gray-cube hall at the recently opened New Taipei City Art Museum. Using algorithms and game engine technology, the projection creates an immersive parallel universe of the Xindian River basin. Imagery oscillates between idyllic scenes of people playing in water or flying kites and dystopian elements like stormy skies and floods. A surreal touch appears when a man leading a horse crosses the landscape unexpectedly. The four-person, cross-generational collective takes its name from their native Xindian district. Their work presents a shimmering, shifting doppelgänger world within the river's currents.
